Jane Harrer Ritchie was born in Cortland, New York and raised in Brooklyn. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire.
A former resident of Dedham, Newton and Concord, Massachusetts, she did promotional work for H. A. Hills & Son in Wellesley before founding the Town Landing kindergarten in Dedham in 1966. She taught at Masconomet Regional High School in Topsfield from 1969 to 1976 before painting professionally.
Her work has been displayed in the Hirschl and Adler gallery in New York City and is in many corporate and private collections.
