William Sauts Netamux'we Bock

Surrealist painter, illustrator, and Lenni Lenape chief William Sauts Netamux’we Bock is a successful artist and outspoken and sometimes radical advocate for American Indian causes. A former Lutheran minister who faced backlash for preaching against the Vietnam War, he felt more drawn to art as time passed. “To me, the essence of the ministry was the poetry, the art,” he said. “So I became a full-time artist.”
