Jarupatcha Achavasmit is a Chiang Mai-based artist whose practice redefines the boundaries of textile art through the pioneering development of woven metal fabrics. By transforming discarded and industrial metals into fabrics, her work engages between materiality, ephemeral and impermanence.
Through processes that combine heat manipulation, electroplating, and both hand and machine weaving, she creates intricate structures that embody a quiet tension between fragility and resilience.
Jarupatcha received her Master of Fine Arts in Fiber Arts from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and has held PhD candidate status at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
Recent exhibitions include Gesso ArtSpace, Vienna (2026); Open House!, Singapore; Turchin Art Centre, North Carolina (2025); Cheongju Craft Biennale, Korea (2025); Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul Arts Centre (2025); Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi Art (2024); and the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (2024).
Her innovative metal textiles are presented as a permanent installation at Aman Nai Lert Hotel in Bangkok.
