Charles F Quest

Charles F. Quest worked in sculpture, stone carving, mosaic, and stained glass, but he is best known for his paintings and prints. After graduating from the Washington University School of Fine Arts, St. Louis, Quest traveled to Europe for six months of artistic study, where he was deeply influenced by the old masters and cubist artists. In the early 1940s, he began pursuing the graphic arts, especially wood engraving and woodcutting, which he found “more enjoyable than any other means of expression.”
