In the spring of 2014, inspired by conversations with State Department AIE curators during studio visits, a group of nine Senegalese artists proposed a collaborative mural project for the new U.S. Embassy in Dakar. The mural was painted on the interior of the embassy perimeter wall facing the new U.S. Embassy building, visible from the lawn and the terraces. The concept for the mural was to provide a transition between the solid architecture of the wall and the fluid images of the ocean surf, visible from behind the wall. The mural was conceived and executed over a period of ten days. The nine participating artists for the mural project were:
