A few years ago, Armand Cabrera moved from California to beautiful Northern Virginia. A dedicated painter, Armand’s style is to paint alla prima, completing his paintings in one sitting in the studio or out of doors. He uses a limited palette of warm and cool primary colors.
Armand has spent 2 decades as a successful production artist in the computer games and entertainment industry, creating conceptual designs, background art, and special effects animation and storyboarding. His clients include LucasFilm Games, Disney, Electronic Arts, Virgin Entertainment, Nickelodeon, Microsoft and Paramount Pictures.
Armand is represented by art galleries across the country. He has had numerous One-Man Exhibitions and his work is found in corporate and private collections around the world. He is the “Artist in Residence” at Riverbend Park in Great Falls, Virginia and is a member of the “Artist in Residence Program” at Century House on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts.
He has been juried into the prestigious Laguna Plein Air Competition, Sonoma Plein Air, Plein Air Easton, Rocky Mountain Plein Air, California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition, Carmel Art Festival, Napa Valley Museum, International Museum of Contemporary Masters “Salon International” and many other national exhibitions. Armand has been honored with top awards at many of these shows.
Armand writes weekly articles about his painting process and historical artists on his very popular blog. ArtAndInfluence.blogspot.com. He teaches both studio and plein air painting workshops a few times a year. Outdoors, Armand instructs how to simplify and organize the painting process to work within the fleeting time constraints of the roving sun. In studio, Armand guides his students to eliminate their weaknesses and paint from the heart. More seasoned painters learn how to solve advanced problems and perfect their technique.
International Artist Magazine published a 10-page article featuring Armand’s work and a painting demonstration. American Art Collector recently featured Armand’s “Paintings of the Piedmont” One Man Exhibition in a 4-page article. Among others, International Artist, Art of the West, American Art Collector, and Southwest Art Magazines have recognized Armand Cabrera as one of the premier, contemporary painters in the country.
