Barbara Gaile

Barbara Gaile (b.1968) is a Latvian-born artist who has lived and worked in Paris since the early 1990s. She graduated from the Janis Rozentals Riga Secondary Art School, studied painting at the University of Sunderland (Great Britain) and received an MA in fine arts from the Latvian Academy of Art.

Gaile has received several prizes, among them are: Prix Bornhauser-Molinari (France, 2000), Medaille d’Argent aux titres des arts du Merite et devouement français (France, 1998), First Prize, Geo-Geo — 4th Exhibition of the Soros Centre of Contemporary Art-Riga, Painting of the Year at Agija Suna Gallery Competition (Latvia, 1995), and the Eva Lange Award (Sweden, 1994).
