Betsy Stirratt

Betsy Stirratt received her MFA from Indiana University in 1983. Her work has been exhibited in over a hundred solo and group exhibitions, including shows at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC, and at White Columns and Art in General in New York. Other venues include the City Gallery at Chastain in Atlanta, the Indiana State Museum and galleries in Houston, Los Angeles and Mexico City among others. She is the recipient of several grants and awards, including a Visual Artist Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and awards from the Indiana Arts Commission, Arts Midwest and the American Craft Council. Her work is represented by Packer/Schopf Gallery in Chicago and Ruschman Fine Art in Indianapolis.

She has been the Director of the School of Fine Arts Gallery at Indiana University since 1987 where she has curated numerous exhibitions. Her publications include Private Eyes, 2010 (with B. Cronin and G. Milius), The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction, Human Nature, 2006 (with J. Robertson) Indiana University School of Fine Arts Gallery, and Les Vérités du Sexe, 2003 (with P. Borhan, C. Johnson, J. Wolin and J. Yamashiro) Editions Marval, Paris, France (French, German editions). Other books include Feminine Persuasion, 2003, (with C. Johnson) Indiana University Press and Sex and Humor, 2002 (with J. Bancroft and C. Johnson) Indiana University Press.
