Dan is a studio painter, who uses a reservoir of sketches drawn from excursions in the surrounding region. At his studio he structures these sketches into his paintings. As he paints he must manage the conflict between the errativ nature of the watercolor medium and the composition he builds upon. His education in architecture continues to influence his painting:
“The composition of a painting is its foundation. It is my strongest ally in my effort to build beautiful images.”
