Dan Engler

Dan Engler was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His early interest in architecture beought him to the Great Plains Town of Manhattan, Kansas where he studied architecture and fine art. Through his studies hemet landscape artist Oscar Larmer, who introduced Dan to watercolor paintain. Dan continuees to paint the landscapre watercolor from his home in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dan is a studio painter, who uses a reservoir of sketches drawn from excursions in the surrounding region. At his studio he structures these sketches into his paintings. As he paints he must manage the conflict between the errativ nature of the watercolor medium and the composition he builds upon. His education in architecture continues to influence his painting:
