Jerawit Surtsit

“The suite Memory Forest commemorates the trip I took with my father on a pickup truck through the forested mountains in the Fang district to sell goods to indigenous Hill Tribes like Mhong, Maew, Karen and Yao. I tried to portray not only the lush landscape and the trees but also the warm shades of the tree’s canopies where we rested, happily absorbing nature. And if you could listen carefully, you would hear our conversation as the light slowly fades.

The ‘Memory Forest’ in all of us will never change. It is we who grow and transform. This belief may explain my ongoing exploration using different print techniques of whether the happiness from the past can endure.”

Jerawit “Eak” Surtsit earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Rajamangala University Technology of Lanna (2005). and developed his printmaking skills while working at C.A.P. During his tenure as a print technician, Surtsit collaborated with a wide variety of stylistically diverse artists from Australia, China, Germany, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom, among other countries.
