Kevin Beck

Kevin is a pastel and oil painter living in the mountains of North Carolina, USA. He began studying art as a child at the Canton Art Institute (Canton, Ohio). Though not “formally” trained in an academic tradition, Kevin continued his journey in art by studying with other artists whose work and skills he admires. The artists that Kevin feels have had a profound influence on his life include Chenot, Corot, Pissaro, Cézanne, Homer, Hopper, Wyeth and most importantly Albert Handell. “No artist is truly self taught. It is impossible to look at a work of creation by another artist and not learn something in the process. That accumulated knowledge coupled with a whole lot of “practice” results in the emergence of individual style.” Kevin is primarily a plein air landscape painter who broadly defines his subject matter as anything that catches his eye in the out of doors.
