In her abstract paintings and works on paper, Brooklyn-based artist Lisa Corinne Davis subverts the grid’s rigid structure: she renders its edges malleable and elastic while introducing undulating planes, overlapping neon lines, and irregular patterns to construct fluid yet meticulously rendered map-like compositions. Through this creative process- what she terms “inventive geography”- Davis seeks to disorient and destabilize the viewer’s preconceived ideas about space and form while encouraging creative and open ended interpretations of her work.
