Matt King

Matt King is a sculptor whose work involves an examination of objects, structures and images that are pervasive in contemporary American culture, but because of their utilitarian or disposable nature, are often overlooked. His exhibitions include solo shows at The Massachusetts College of Art and Design, The University of Georgia, Werkstätte Gallery, Massimo Audiello, and Fourteen30 Contemporary as well as group exhibitions at Guild & Greyshkul, Lurhring Augustine, Stux Gallery, and the Vienna Kunsthalle. He received his MFA from Bard College and is a graduate of Cooper Union and the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program. Honors include a 2012-2013 VMFA Visual Arts Fellowship, a MacDowell Colony Fellowship, a Visiting Artist Residency at Fiskars Village, Finland, and a VCU Affiliated Faculty Residency at the American Academy in Rome.
