Nicky Nodjoumi

In his large-scale paintings, Nicky Nodjoumi stages dramatic tableaux of provocative, sometimes satirical, scenes that resonate beyond specific historical contexts or geographical boundaries. Working from images he finds in newspapers or magazines, Nodjoumi frequently lampoons systems or figures of political power. However, his disjointed compositions—which feature fractured figures and scenery—lack any clear or cohesive narrative and thus foster a sense of temporal and moral ambiguity.
