Best known for her intricate embroidered paintings, Windhoek-based artist Tuli Mekondjo employs deeply symbolic motifs and materials to honor Namibian histories and cultural practices while exploring concepts of identity, memory, and trauma. To create these works, Mekondjo undertakes a labor intensive process which involves applying resin, blow torching, hand sewing, and transferring archival photography to the textile support.
