Wade Hoefer was born in Long Beach, California and lives and works in Healdsburg, California. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. From 1992 to 1996 he was Artist-in- Residence at the Experimental Workshop and Aurobora Press in San Francisco. In 1997 he was Artist-in-Residence at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has taught Advanced Painting and Life Drawing at the San Francisco Academy of Art. In 1988 he led a Graduate Painting Seminar at the San Francisco Art Institute and a Graduate Seminar in Advances Painting at the San Francisco Academy of Art.
