Growing up in a household of amateur naturalists in Larchmont, New York, Ford was drawn to the outdoors and animals in particular at an early age. He is best known for his large scale watercolors that probe our mythologization, exploitation, and fascination with the natural world. Deftly incorporating many aspects of scientific illustrations, field studies, and natural history painting, Ford simultaneously upends these conventions through satire and cultural critique.
