Keith Achepohl

Keith Achepohl was born April 11, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He earned B.A. from Knox College, an M.F.A. degree from The University of Iowa, and honorary doctorates from Pacific Lutheran University and Knox College. He is head of the printmaking program and teaches undergraduate and graduate intaglio and relief, and seminar courses on print-related subjects. He has lectured extensively at museums and universities around the world.

His paintings, watercolors, drawings, and prints have been shown in many countries. His work is included in museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; the Library of Congress; the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Ill.; the Los Angeles County Museum, Los Angeles, Calif.; Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, Wash.; the Biblioteca Nacional, Madrid, Spain; Kobe Art Museum, Kobe, Japan; and the Philadelphia Art Museum, Philadelphia, Penn. Fulbright awards have taken him to Egypt and Turkey. Since 1995 he has been director of The University of Iowa’s summer drawing and printmaking program in Venice, Italy.
