Ocean & Martin – US State Department Announces Recipients of Medal of Arts for 2015 – Huge congrats to artists Sam Gilliam, Xu Bing, Mark Bradford, Maya Lin, Julie Mehretu, Pedro Reyes, and Kehinde Wiley who have all been awarded the US State Department Medal of Arts. Each has been chosen for his or her substantive commitment to the State Department’s cultural diplomacy outreach through the arts, and in particular recognizes their work with the “ART in Embassies” program which promotes American art abroad.

Previous winners of the award include Cai Guo-Qiang, Shahzia Sikander, and Carrie Mae Weems.
